Notes

For a richer, deeper flavor, consider quickly searing the chicken breasts and sautéing the diced onion in the butter before adding them to the slow cooker. This Maillard reaction creates a superior flavor base. Replace half of the water with good quality chicken broth to enhance the savory notes. Fresh herbs like a sprig of thyme or a bay leaf added at the beginning of cooking will also elevate the aroma. To ensure perfectly textured dumplings, resist the urge to peek or stir excessively after adding the biscuit dough, as this can release steam and inhibit proper cooking, potentially leading to dense or mushy results. Always check the center of a dumpling for doneness before serving.
