Equipment

  • 1 13x9 inch Baking Pan Essential for baking the bars
  • 1 Small Mixing Bowl For combining graham cracker crumbs and butter
  • 1 Fork For firmly pressing down layers
  • 1 Measuring Cups For accurate ingredient portions
  • 1 Rubber Spatula For mixing crumbs and spreading ingredients

Ingredients

Main

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup butter or margarine melted
  • 1 14 ounce can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch-flavored chips
  • 1 ⅓ cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) or 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for a glass baking pan.
  • Mix graham cracker crumbs and butter together in a small bowl until combined. Press crumb mixture firmly on the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture; layer evenly with chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Top with flaked coconut and sprinkle over chopped nuts; press down firmly with a fork.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned, about 25 minutes. Cool. Chill if desired. Cut into bars or diamonds. Store covered at room temperature.

Notes

For a perfect crust, press the graham cracker mixture very firmly into the pan; using the flat bottom of a glass can help achieve an even, compact base that won't crumble. Ensure all layers, especially the condensed milk and chips, are spread as evenly as possible for consistent flavor and texture in every bite. Monitor baking closely; ovens vary. The bars are done when lightly golden, about 25 minutes. Overbaking leads to a dry, hard bar. Allow them to cool completely, and chilling is highly recommended before cutting for clean, defined squares. For easy removal and cleanup, line your baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides. Consider a sprinkle of sea salt before baking to beautifully balance the sweetness.
