  • 1 Measuring Spoons
  • 1 Measuring Cup

  • teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Ensure the sharp cheddar cheese is at room temperature, then cut it into ½-inch cubes.
  • Combine the cubed cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, minced garlic, salt, and ground black pepper in the bowl of a food processor.
  • Add approximately half of the German beer to the food processor.
  • Process the ingredients, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed, until the mixture begins to smooth.
  • Gradually add the remaining beer, processing until the spread is completely smooth and creamy.
  • Taste the beer cheese spread and adjust seasonings if necessary, adding more salt, pepper, mustard, or Worcestershire to suit your preference.
  • Transfer the spread to a serving bowl.
  • Serve immediately with soft pretzels, rye bread, pumpernickel, or an assortment of crackers and crudités.
  • For best flavor and texture, allow the spread to sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before serving if it has been refrigerated.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chives or paprika, if desired, for enhanced presentation.

Notes

1. Ensure cheese is at room temperature for optimal blending and a smoother, creamier consistency; cold cheese will result in a lumpy spread.2. The choice of German beer significantly impacts flavor. A balanced Lager or Märzen is ideal; avoid overly bitter IPAs. Adjust the amount of beer gradually to achieve your desired spreadable consistency.3. Taste and adjust seasoning as you go. A touch more mustard can add tang, and a pinch of cayenne or smoked paprika can introduce subtle complexity.4. This spread pairs excellently with soft pretzels, rye bread, or crudités. Garnish with chives or paprika for enhanced presentation.5. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days; allow to come to room temperature before serving for the best texture.
