Main

  • ½ lemon cut into wedges
  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 fluid ounce lemonade
  • 2 fluid ounces limoncello liqueur
  • 1 cup ice cubes or as needed
  • 2 fluid ounces Prosecco Italian sparkling white wine

  • lemon slices or lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

Notes

1. Gentle Muddling: When muddling the basil and lemon, avoid over-muddling. The goal is to gently bruise the basil leaves and express the citrus oils, not pulverize them, which can release bitter notes.2. Chilling is Key: Ensure all your liquid ingredients, especially the Prosecco and limoncello, are well-chilled. Pre-chilling your champagne flutes will also help maintain the drink's temperature and effervescence for longer.3. Balance of Flavors: Taste your lemonade before adding; its sweetness or tartness can impact the final balance. Adjust the quantity slightly if needed to harmonize with the limoncello.4. Preserve Bubbles: Add the Prosecco and sparkling water last and pour gently down the side of the glass to maintain maximum effervescence. Garnish judiciously for a professional touch.
