Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl For preparing the meatball mixture.
  • 1 Large Skillet For cooking the meatballs and combining with sauce.
  • 1 Small Saucepan For preparing the honey sriracha glaze.
  • 1 Whisk Essential for combining sauce ingredients and cornstarch slurry.
  • 1 Spatula or Tongs For handling and turning the meatballs during cooking.

Ingredients

Main

  • ½ lb ground turkey
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, and ½ teaspoon ground ginger until just mixed.
  • Form the meat mixture into uniform, approximately 1-inch diameter meatballs.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove the cooked meatballs and set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, sriracha, soy sauce, garlic powder, brown sugar, and ¼ cup water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the ½ tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water until smooth to create a slurry.
  • Gradually whisk the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens to a glossy glaze.
  • Return the cooked meatballs to the saucepan with the thickened honey sriracha glaze.
  • Gently toss the meatballs to ensure they are evenly coated in the rich glaze.
  • Allow the meatballs to simmer in the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting them fully absorb the delicious flavors.
  • Serve the hot honey sriracha meatballs immediately, perhaps garnished with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

To ensure tender meatballs, avoid overmixing the ground turkey; combine ingredients just until incorporated. Searing the meatballs first in the skillet develops a lovely crust and rich flavor. When making the sauce, ensure the cornstarch slurry is fully dissolved in cold water before adding it to the simmering sauce to prevent lumps. Adjust the amount of sriracha to achieve your preferred level of heat. For an elevated presentation and texture, consider garnishing with toasted sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions.
