Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Small Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Microwave-Safe Bowl
  • 1 Spoon or Spatula for mixing and spreading

Ingredients

Main

  • 4 tablespoons cinnamon bun topping such as Popcorn Powder®
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted, or more as needed
  • ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 8 ounce package refrigerated crescent rolls

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix cinnamon bun topping and melted butter in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in the microwave for 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the chocolate.
  • Separate crescent dough into 16 triangles. Spread 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon mixture onto each triangle and drizzle some of the chocolate on top. Carefully begin to roll starting at shortest side of triangle up to the opposite point. Once rolled, spread another 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon mixture on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 10 to 13 minutes.

Notes

To enhance these delightful treats, consider upgrading the cinnamon mixture with a blend of ground cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg, and a whisper of cardamom for a more complex spice profile. When melting chocolate, ensure gentle, controlled heating to prevent scorching. Stir thoroughly after each microwave interval to prevent seizing. For a truly elevated experience, prepare a simple cream cheese glaze (powdered sugar, softened cream cheese, milk, vanilla extract) to drizzle over the warm rolls; this transforms them into a bakery-worthy indulgence. Avoid over-baking to maintain the crescent rolls' tender, flaky texture. These are best served warm, perhaps with a light dusting of confectioners' sugar if opting out of the glaze.
