Notes

Scoring the hot dogs with a shallow diagonal cut before cooking helps them cook more evenly, prevents bursting, and creates additional surface area for crisping. For an elevated bun, lightly brush the insides with melted butter or a neutral oil before air frying; this creates a richer flavor and a more consistent golden toast. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook hot dogs or buns in batches if necessary to ensure optimal air circulation for even cooking and crispness. The cooking time for hot dogs can be extended by an additional minute or two if a deeper browning or more pronounced snap is desired.
