Imagine hot pancakes covered in butter, I am truly addicted to this breakfast. Now that my love of pancakes has recently turned into a mission, comparing pancakes from restaurants like IHOP, Denny’s, etc. seems like a smart move. My goal was simple: find the Buttermilk Pancake Champion here.

My personal pancake tour took me to Las Vegas. I went to IHOP, Denny’s there. The first stop was IHOP on a recent Thursday. It seemed a little busy, but we found a nice booth. Drinks and menus were delivered quickly after we sat down. The pancakes I ordered were also delivered quickly.

I ordered the short stack of pancakes which cost $8.50 for three pancakes. There were also pancakes that arrived looking fluffy and thick. They looked delicious from the outside, but I was a little disappointed by the way they tasted. They had very little flavor on their own. There was only a small piece of butter on the stack of bread, and there really wasn’t enough butter.

Pancakes need a lot of syrup to taste good. The syrup is part of the pancakes, but of course the pancakes themselves must taste good. It’s just that now they need more syrup. By comparison, I think IHOP is slightly behind in testing.

Denny’s, which has gained a lot of customer loyalty with its pancakes. I think it’s safe to highlight Denny’s Pancake Slams. of course there are others such as the Caramel Banana Pancakes, as well as the Cinnamon Roll and Double Berry flavors. The chocolate banana pancakes here are known as Choconana pancakes. Their multi-grain pancakes offer you a lot of different options.

Each stack of pancakes here comes with eggs, hash browns and meat. This is designed to provide a well-rounded breakfast dining experience. Seriously, I’m very satisfied. There has been some customer feedback that Denny’s has mastered the art of the perfect pancake.Tripadvisor reviewers often praise these fluffy pancakes. They call them fluffy, flavorful, amazing, and a highlight of their frequent visits.

Plus, Denny’s has a number of savory breakfasts. They have about 25 dishes in the store to almost satisfy your needs. The variety includes egg sandwiches and steak and eggs. These packages come with eggs, bacon, sausage, and many other different foods that will fill you up and give you value for your money. If you have a bigger appetite, you can also choose sides such as pancakes or hash browns afterwards.

Denny’s is widely known for its classic breakfasts and ‘slams’. Personally, I think Denny’s really deserves its reputation.

As you can see by comparing them, each place has its own strengths. The strengths of Denny’s are obvious, with great value packages and family meals, and late-night food available at Denny’s. Of course, both restaurants offer classic comfort food that you can try for yourself – after all, everyone’s tastes are different.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups milk at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter plus more as needed

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk and vanilla.
  • Melt the butter in a large cast iron skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Whisk the butter into the milk mixture. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, and whisk until a thick batter is just formed.
  • Keeping the skillet at medium heat, ladle about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet, to make a pancake. Make 1 or 2 more pancakes, taking care to keep them evenly spaced apart. Cook, until bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, and the undersides are golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook about 1 minute more on the second side. Serve immediately or transfer to a platter and cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  • Procedure for adding fruit to pancakes: Once the bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, scatter the surface with sliced or diced fruit, or chocolate chips, nuts, etc. Flip with a spatula and cook for 1 minute more, being careful not to burn toppings.

Notes

They’re the ultimate breakfast with butter and maple syrup, but these are also great with jam, whipped cream or even chocolate sauce. You can also customize your pancakes with mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, blueberries or bananas.
