The snack aisle always feels like a maze. The variety of colors and textures of snacks dazzles the eye. Those who love chips and dips have plenty of choices. So many salsas, guacamole and chips make for a dizzying array. How can you find products that are truly delicious?
That’s why we’re always sampling. We just dive in to find snacks that stand out. It’s not the pretty bags and market talk that we look for. What matters to us is the flavor and the overall experience. Helping you make informed choices makes us happy. Perhaps, you can think of us as your friendly foodie guides.
Come explore some popular store snacks with us. We’ve tried many salsas, guacamole and chips extensively. Test them thoroughly here. We checked their flavors, heat levels, and dipping sauces. Try writing out the flavors you can almost taste right now.

1. **Late July Snacks Medium Salsa Verde**: Our snack test starts with a spicy dipping sauce. This green dipping sauce has the bright, rich flavor you’d expect. Tomato, cilantro and lime are its basic flavors.
The onion and garlic flavors add to its aroma and also balance the jalapeño and spice flavors just right. You can do so many different things with this salsa. At parties it can be used as a topping for tacos, burritos, and nachos. It can also be used for egg dishes, chicken and fish foods. It is also good for tacos or pork enchilada meals. In fact, some of the other products have more calories. But we all agree that it’s impeccably balanced. Right now, it’s our top pick among store-bought hot sauces.
This one was at the top of our ratings. It’s easy to find at places like Walmart Supermarkets. It scored high on most of the test items. It looks great and tastes great.

2. **Sabra Classic Guacamole**: The search for guacamole at the store always feels endless. There are so many choices, chunky, spicy, and more waiting in the wings. But who would have thought a hummus maker could make guacamole?
The Sabra Classic Guacamole quickly caught our eye. We thought it had a very balanced texture. It had just the right mix of thick and creamy. The guacamole had enough chunks of avocado in it. Making guacamole like this at the store is a lot of work. But Sabra totally nailed it. It’s so satisfying to eat that you want to scoop more.
The best thing about this guacamole is also the flavor. Of all the guacamole we’ve tasted, it has the freshest flavor. You can really taste the avocado flavor. The other additions also enhance its flavor nicely. The onions and cilantro are the main flavor additives. They enhance the flavor of the avocado, not replace it. This makes it a truly top-notch guacamole. It’s great for dipping with chips, very quick and easy. Or it’s great spread on a bagel for breakfast.

3. **On The Border Salsa**: We saw a lot of variety when trying red hot sauces. After trying 13 store brands, we found On The Border Hot Sauce. This brand actually comes from a former restaurant. Back then, they made guacamole at your table too. Now, the restaurant’s quality comes in jars to provide you with great flavor.
There is a reason why it takes the crown. The reason is that it contains cumin seasoning, but even without cumin, the spicy sauce tastes great. It has a good balance of heat, salt and acidity.
The strong cumin flavor sets this salsa apart. We highly recommend that you make this salsa your first choice. You should always purchase this jarred salsa. If you are not comfortable making your own salsa at home, then use it.

4. **Santitas White Corn Tortilla Chips**: We’ve already looked at the dips here. Now the key is to find their partner chips as quickly as possible. We’ve ranked a few different store brands for you.Santitas White Corn Tortilla Chips round out the top three.
Santitas chips do taste good. They have a satisfying savory taste while still always having a nice toasty feel to them. This toasty feel indicates the quality of the corn used. The texture is also key in determining whether or not the chips are appealing. There are many bubbles on the surface of each chip. These bubbles look beautiful and contribute more to the flavor of the chips.
Without the blisters, the chips might feel a little thin. But the chips are mostly sturdy throughout. This means they’re great for dipping here. You can scoop up a decent dip and it won’t crumble quickly.

5. **Signature Select White Corn Tortilla Chips**: Any ranking has frequent failures. Some products fail too often. In our test of chip brands. One chip finished in last place. It is Signature Select White Corn Tortilla Chips. This brand is easy to find at Safeway or Albertsons stores.
Perhaps the main benefit is the price. Either way, these chips are fairly inexpensive. They usually cost around $2.29 per bag. There is a lot of competition from other brands on the market right now. Being cheap is definitely not enough. It doesn’t quite cut it. Their biggest drawback is their flavor. They are sadly seen as bland chips.
The bag says they have a sea salt flavor. But there is always only a very light salt flavor. The chips are pretty well constructed and moderately thick. They are on the large side. Maybe that size is good for holding things. The low price often lacks important flavors. This makes them easily a padded product.

We tested some dips and chips, leaving us with the ones we were most impressed with. Hopefully these will help you in your snacking choices and maybe at least not be dazzled.
