Life can sometimes add extra burdens. Many people have experienced this during the COVID-19 pandemic. I myself gained nine kilograms, which I had never gained before. Feeling completely discouraged about myself was very painful.

A former producer gave me feedback that I looked a little overweight and wasn’t suitable for television. This made me very sad. However, if I were a man, the situation might have been different. But for me, this was a turning point. I realized I needed to make changes quickly. So, I began exploring viable options.

Rumors about Ozempic reached my ears. This medication is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes. The controversy surrounding its use for weight loss has sparked differing opinions. Some view it as an “easy option.”

My journey with medical guidance began 18 months ago. At the time, I consulted a doctor, and after undergoing a formal examination, it was confirmed that my BMI met the criteria. It is important to note that I have never been obese; I am simply on the heavier side and have a petite frame. Signs of a slowing metabolism began to emerge. After passing the examination, the doctor prescribed Ozempic for me.

My Ozempic treatment began in October 2023 and continued until early April 2024. This six-month treatment period was a choice I made voluntarily. Strangely, many people are reluctant to discuss this topic. Using such medications seems to have become a kind of secret.

However, the effects and changes are visible. For example, “Ozempic facial features” or changes in muscle tone. For me, maintaining transparency is particularly important now. The weekly injection is colloquially referred to as a “pen.”

The active ingredient semaglutide is a fascinating drug. It works by mimicking the mechanism of action of a natural hormone. This hormone is called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which plays a key role in regulating insulin secretion. Additionally, its mimetic action slows down gastric emptying.

Healthier options

Food stays in the stomach longer in this way, which helps create a feeling of fullness. At the same time, it effectively regulates blood sugar levels. As a result, it suppresses appetite. This medication is not a miracle cure but a tool that works through specific biological pathways.

In the first four weeks of using Ozempic, I noticed my weight gradually decreasing. My body finally responded, whereas other methods I had tried previously had no effect. To be honest, I no longer felt hungry at that point. The persistent hunger gradually subsided and was no longer as intense as before. My food choices naturally shifted toward healthier, lighter options.

In addition to weight loss, Ozempic has other positive effects. I have also noticed other positive effects. My blood sugar levels are very stable, which helps lower my cholesterol levels. It helps stabilize my daily energy and appetite.

However, this journey was not without its challenges. In the early stages of using Ozempic, the body needed time to adjust. I did experience some side effects. Occasionally, I felt nauseous, and mild fatigue was also common. Dizziness occurred occasionally, almost daily.

The medication left me feeling low on energy. I constantly reminded myself that the body still required basic nutrition. Vitamins, nutrients, and food were essential. After six months, I successfully completed the Ozempic treatment and lost nine kilograms. The weight loss was primarily concentrated in the abdomen, face, legs, buttocks, and arms.

Now that the facial swelling has subsided, I faced a new challenge. Obtaining the medication became quite difficult. Pharmacies often ran out of stock, especially in the previous year. It is understandable that diabetes patients are a priority for treatment.

I have read too many horror stories about people experiencing a severe return of appetite after stopping medication, often followed by weight gain. They say that after stopping GLP-1 drugs. I am absolutely determined not to let that happen to me. I am happy to share that it has not happened. After a year, it has indeed been accomplished.

Weight management is undoubtedly becoming increasingly complex. Some drugs have had a significant impact on consumers who purchase these products. Their effects on health, consumption habits, and food companies are clear. They reveal the link between the brain, appetite, and food, which is crucial to health and has been proven. However, lifestyle habits remain the most important factor in maintaining weight stability over time.
