Fast food fans, get ready, the Golden Arches McDonald’s will not only be launching its first new permanent menu item in four years, but it will also be reintroducing a menu item that McDonald’s fans have been eagerly awaiting for almost as long as the program has been gone. It’s an exciting time for McDonald’s lovers, especially if you have a penchant for chicken!

Let’s talk about what’s new nationwide starting May 5: new McKrisp bars and a new creamy chili dip. These aren’t just limited-time offers; they’ll be joining the permanent product lineup! McCrispy Strips are described as featuring “100% white meat covered in crispy golden brown breadcrumbs bursting with bold new black pepper flavor.” You can get them in servings of three or four, and they’re perfect with a cup or two of the tantalizing Creamy Chili Dip.

Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, is also enthusiastic about the idea, saying, “Since I took on my new role as U.S. business leader this year, I’ve been excited for fans to experience our additional chicken offerings.” She added, “Demand for chicken strips has been so high across the industry that we knew we had to offer something that people would crave and that would be worth the wait.” It seems that McDonald’s listened carefully to what people wanted and took their time to get these new chicken strips just right.

But wait, there’s more! While McCrispy Strips have been confirmed as a permanent new product, what fast food loyalists are really buzzing about is the long-awaited return of Snack Wrap. The food item, which debuted back in 2006, was sadly discontinued completely in the U.S. in 2020 (though it was discontinued in 2016). It earned a “cult following” and was hailed as “the most sought-after product of all time.”

McDonald’s fans have been hoping for the return of the McDonald’s Snack Wrap for some time now, having started online petitions and created countless rumors on social media in the past. McDonald’s seems to have taken notice, specifically noting that X (formerly Twitter) had a “huge impact” on the potential return of the snack roll. McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin captured the sentiment perfectly, posting, “The people won, and there’s no better gift for a company than the one to just make people happy. Tears of joy, my friend.”

Just last year, Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, revealed in an interview with Good Morning America that snack rolls will indeed return in 2025. He even mentioned that “I’m getting a lot of emails in my inbox about this product.” The official McDonald’s X account posted a cryptic clue: “Snack Wrap 0x.14.2025.” This has everyone speculating whether the 14th of a month somewhere between May and September 2025 could be the big announcement, or even the release date itself! While the exact return date wasn’t officially stated at the time, the hints were getting stronger.

Interestingly, both the new McCrispy Strips and the returning Snack Wrap have now landed on McDonald’s “McValue” platform, which is good news for your wallet! While Snack Wrap has always been available in places like Canada and the UK, its return to the U.S. menu is a big deal for its loyal fans.
