We always look forward to cooking a delicious meal at home in the evening to treat ourselves after a hard day’s work, right? But life always seems to throw a wrench in our plans. Maybe work is too busy, maybe family needs attention, or maybe by the time you get home, you’re just too tired to cook. That’s when the supermarket comes to the rescue. It offers delicious ready-made options that can truly save the day. However, with so many options available, where do you start?
We’ve carefully selected high-quality products that are easy to find in supermarkets. These include some classic frozen desserts that are perfect for hot weather. We’ve also tasted delicious sandwiches that are great for lunch breaks. Now we can tell you which ones are worth buying. Let us be your supermarket shopping guide.

1. **Kirkland Signature ice cream Bars**: We initially tested Kirkland Signature ice cream. This box of 18 sticks costs under $10, which comes out to roughly $0.56 per stick. This is the only ice cream bar we found that contains nuts! Additionally, the packaging looks rather huge.
The almonds prompted considerable controversy during the family test. The youngest tester (4 years old) particularly detested the nuts. The 6-year-old tester also placed them last for the same reason. For fussy eaters, these minor changes do matter. But for adult testers? These were probably our favorites. My wife and I both adored them. We both agreed that the almonds imparted a crispy texture to the upper layer, and this extra crunch definitely increased the experience.

2. **365 Organic Chocolate-Dipped Ice Cream Bars**: Next up is Whole Foods Market’s organic ice cream bars, part of their 365 private label series. Each pack contains three ice cream bars and costs $6. This means each ice cream bar costs $2, making it the most expensive option in this test. However, the packaging notes that the product is coated with organic chocolate, while other brands only label it as “chocolate-flavored coating.” Perhaps this is where the difference lies.
This ice cream bar is indeed superior to Wegmans’ similar product. The outer chocolate coating is richer and melts smoothly in the mouth. Our six-year-old child also preferred this one, though they couldn’t specify the exact reason.

3. **Wegmans’ Vanilla Ice Cream Bars**: We also highlighted Wegmans in our last ice cream bar comparison analysis, and this was the lowest option at the time. A box of 12 bars costs only $5, which comes out to around $0.41 per bar. The appearance is akin to classic ice cream truck sweets, with an overall style that is pretty plain and basic.
Overall, we found these ice cream bars to be average. The chocolate shell has a decent flavor, but it feels thinner compared to other products we’ve tried. The texture also has a slightly waxy feel. While not bad, it lacks the standout qualities of other products.
The vanilla ice cream inside has a mild flavor. However, at $0.41 per stick, the price is extremely low, making it hard to argue that they aren’t worth the cost. Our children didn’t complain about these ice cream sticks. They’re still a decent option for a hot day.

4. **Target Favorite Day Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream Sandwiches**: After evaluating the pricey 365 organic brand, we wanted to discover a more cheap option. We shifted our focus to Target’s own label brand, “Favorite Day,” which debuted a vanilla ice cream sandwich that attracted our interest due to its exceptionally cheap pricing.
We noticed that this ice cream is priced at roughly $4 at Target stores, yet its taste and texture are practically on par with Walmart’s Great Value brand. However, the Favorite Day version has a somewhat lighter taste and a softer texture.

5. **Walmart Great Value Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream Sandwiches**: When it comes to budget, Walmart is always a reliable choice. Their vanilla ice cream sandwiches are another affordable option, available at Walmart for around $3. However, we found them to be slightly harder and denser than Target’s similar product, and not as visually appealing.
The texture is slightly inferior to the Favorite Day brand. However, the overall flavor is decent, with moderate sweetness. As a budget-friendly dessert option, it offers good value for money, especially considering its low price point. The ice cream itself has a light yellow color, which comes from food coloring rather than egg yolks (clearly stated in the ingredient list). Some consumers may find this slightly unusual.
Overall, this is a decent budget option. They may not be the most exciting or delicious, but they satisfy the craving for an ice cream sandwich. Sometimes simple and affordable is exactly what you need.

6. **FatBoy Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich**: If you think there should be more ice cream than cookies in a sandwich, then you might like FatBoy’s sandwich ice cream. Of all the sandwiches we tried, we found this one to have the highest ice cream content. You can buy this giant dessert at Safeway for about $7.
This sandwich is designed for ice cream lovers. It features two very thin cookies. Compared to the massive amount of ice cream inside, it’s more like a portable ice cream ball.
These thin cookies are basically just packaging. They’re mainly there so you don’t end up holding a big glob of ice cream. We found the ice cream to be very smooth, and it has a nice vanilla flavor. If you love lots of ice cream and not much cookie, give FatBoy a try. They also have FatBoy Junior if you want a smaller portion.

Alright, that’s it. From frozen desserts that cool you down on a hot day to delicious sandwiches, supermarkets are truly a treasure trove. You may be in a hurry. Or tired after a long day. Or just want something delicious and convenient to eat. Your local supermarket is sure to have something good for yo
u. So next time you’re at the supermarket, remember to look around.
